What is assisted living?

Assisted Living is aimed at those who are looking for an environment where assistance is always close at hand, but who do not need the constant care received within a residential or nursing home. The properties are adjacent to or within the grounds of a Care Home, from where a range of services including cleaning, laundry, meals, hairdressing and physiotherapy may be provided. Assisted Living therefore allows people to retain their independence whilst knowing help is there if they need it. Residents usually need to be at least 55 or 60 years of age.

Other facilities generally include a communal lounge, laundry, guest suite and lifts to all floors. Most benefit from a secure entrance with video entry phones. A house manager is usually on site to provide "good neighbourly" assistance and the management company is responsible for the day-to-day management and general upkeep of the building and grounds.

All properties have a 24-hour emergency alarm system linked to a monitoring organisation who will summon help in an emergency.
