What is retirement housing? Retirement housing is purpose built accommodation aimed at those people who wish to live in a safe and secure environment whilst retaining their privacy and independence. Residents usually need to be at least 55 or 60 years of age. The services and facilities provided generally include a communal lounge, laundry, guest suite and lifts to all floors. Most benefit from a secure entrance with video entry phones. A resident house manager is usually on site to provide "good neighbourly" assistance and the management company is responsible for the day-to-day management and general upkeep of the building and grounds. All properties have a 24-hour emergency alarm system linked to a monitoring organisation who will summon help in an emergency. |
